Japingka Gallery
This indigenous art gallery required rebranding of its tired and dated image.
The name Japingka was found to represent a permanent, reliable watering hole for indigenous people, which is a spiritual place signifying the coming together of different communities and the sharing of ideas and cultures. Symbolically the gallery could also represent this as they too have similar ideals. To achieve this connection, the aboriginal symbol of concentric circles, representing the watering hole, was employed. A fresh approach to colour and font added to give the branding a modern feel which was then applied to all printed material, advertising, signage and website.
The new image is successful in promoting the gallery as being up to date and reputable, as well as having a strong link to the indigenous people whose artwork they display.
